We Aren't All "Modern"
The Make It Modern group is growing and we're inviting you to join us! We meet on the 3rd Sunday at 2PM at Appletree Quilting Center. Sometimes we adjust that schedule because of holidays or conflicts.
What IS Modern quilting? *
*Modern quilts are primarily functional and inspired by modern designs
*Modern quilters work in different styles and define modern quilting in different ways, but several characteristics often appear which may help identify a modern quilt. These include, but are not limited to:
-- the use of bold colors and prints, high contrast, and graphic area of solid color,
-- improvisational piecing,
-- expansive negative space, and
-- alternate grid work.
"Modern traditionalism" or the updating of classic quilt designs is also often seen in modern quilting.

Do you have to be a "modern quilter" to join Make It Modern?
Absolutely NOT! We are fully aware that we are one of the few interest groups in our guild that meets on the weekend. This makes us a great group for those that don't like weeknights or can't meet during the weekdays because of work or other obligations. We welcome EVERYONE and we show off ALL styles of quilts during our meetings. Plus, if you use a modern machine... you're in!
Why join an interest group?
Why not?! It's a great way to connect in a smaller setting with other guild members. It's a great place to learn and get advice on your current and upcoming projects. If you are new to the guild, it gives you a chance to meet other members and start building your sense of family and community within our guild.
