Machine Piecing for Beginners


Who’s ready to conquer those accuquilt UFO’s? Join Helen and Carol for a day of sewing, creating, and possibly even starting something new (because let’s be real, who can resist?). Bring your lunch and snacks - we’re going to need fuel for our creativity.

Join Amy in learning how to piece this easy fence rail pattern using a main focus fabric along with two coordinating fabrics. This is a beginner friendly class for new sewists.

This traditional pattern was designed after the 1777 victory of the American army over the British General John Burgoyne at the Battle of Saratoga. This was the first major victory of the American forces over the British and helped encourage the French to join the war on the side of the Americans. The quilt has clean lines and patriotic colors to celebrate the 250th birthday of the USA.

This quilt is a variation of the traditional disappearing 9 patch pattern. By changing a couple of the pieces in the block we get a different look. We will assemble the block, cut it apart, and reassemble the block before putting the blocks together in strips and then into rows. We will talk about the nesting technique and mitered borders. This quilt is accuquilt Go! friendly.

This is the easiest quilt to make! Select several of our cotton flannels and we will pre-cut and pre-fringe the blocks for you. All you have do is sew the blocks together! The magic happens when you wash and dry the quilt allowing the prefringed seam allowances to bloom. Class fee includes us precutting and fringing your fabric for you.

Geneva is a lovely quilt using three fabrics, a background and two focal prints. The blocks are set alternately with sashing and a border to frame them. We will learn a half square triangle variation to make the blocks.

In this class you will learn to create a beautiful and vibrant quilt of 9 colorful Lone Stars. Having created several of these designs, Aisha will share some tips with you to help refine your skill at mastering the 1/4” seam and matching the many diamond points by strip piecing the multiple brightly colored Lone Stars.

Inspired by the vintage cross stitch motifs, you can make this in 3 different sizes, small, medium, or large. Jean’s sample is the small size and measures 45 inches square. Feel free to experiment with different color combinations. Maybe a seasonal selection will suit your fancy.

Join Jean on learning how to make these quilted hugs/shawls. You can make a shawl for yourself or a friend or just to give away. Using 2 1/2” strips you will construct your fabric. Quilt with your favorite method – Stitch in the Ditch or on a Longarm. Finish with binding and add a closure – you are done! Also, can be made with a finished quilt or orphan blocks or an entire piece of fabric. These make great donation gifts or personal gifts to those in need of warmth.

The purrfect beginner class. We will be making the solid kittens in whatever color palette you choose. Amy used various pinks to create this stunning ombre effect.

Did you ever think you would make a quilt called Turkey Giblets? The accuquilt Go! company made the perfect B.O.B. die with that name and it makes a nice quilt. So we will use the die to cut the perfect pieces and then assemble the quilt. This quilt is easier than it looks and chain piecing makes it go fast.
