The Queen and Her Court, queen sized quilt shown above, is our new Block of the Month series with this lovely pieced and appliqued quilt from Toni Steere. The fabrics are from Timeless Treasure's Marie Antoinette collection. The pattern is by Toni Steere and Jenny Foltz. Millie will teach the pieced blocks and Jean will demonstrate machine applique techniques. The applique is done in a block format to be less intimidating. If you choose not to do the applique, just add more pieced blocks.
We started the series last June, but it's not too late to join us. We can still catch you up. We meet the fourth Saturday morning. During class, we have show and tell plus a demonstration of how to put that month's block together. See list of dates above.
Here are the rules:
1. The registration fee is $40 for the kit or $12 for the pattern only (no discounts apply). Then each month your kit fee will be $24.00 or $6.00 for the pattern. The kit includes all the fabric needed for the top, backing, and binding plus a project tote bag.
2. If you bring the previous month's block completed by 9:00 am sharp, your cost for the month's kit is $20; the pattern only is $4. If you can't attend the class, you may pick up your kit or pattern anytime after 10 am that day.
3. If you do not choose to attend the classes, you may purchase the kit only for $259 or the pattern for $50.
Finished quilt size = 96" x 108"
On Point
Starting 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Saturday, June 26th
Our newest Block of the month project is this lovely quilt designed by Julia Hale. On Point is a diagonally set quilt, made from 14 framed pieced blocks, surrounding a large central pieced star block or applique block (your choice). With pieced setting triangles and borders, the quilt measures 80" x 101".
We will demonstrate two blocks each month, show both the applique techniques and piecing for either of the center blocks the 8th month, and then do the pieced setting triangles and borders on the 9th month. We will have two fabric options - batiks and reproduction prints, or you may chose to select your own fabrics from our store.
It you chose to do the appliqued center block, you may do either hand or machine applique. We will also have the design digitized for applique in the embroidery hoop. I will have more details on pricing and graphics of the two color ways by Mid-March. If you are interested in this program, please let us know as soon as possible.
Four Seasons Applique
Starting Fall 2010
We are considering a second Block of the Month program based on the Four Seasons quilt design by Marinda Stewart for Blank Quilting and utilizing the Rock Candy fabric collection by Mark Hordsznski for Blank.
This gorgeous applique can be done by hand or machine. Plus, we will also have the digitized designs available for applique in your embroidery hoop. Or you may join Marilyn to learn how to create your own digitized designs with your 4D Embroidery Software. We will have different classes to help you master your technique of choice for this quilt.
This program will start either this summer or fall depending upon when we have everything in place and ready to roll. If you are interested in doing the Four Seasons Block of the Month program, please let us know. We need to make sure there is enough interest before we invest time and money in its development.
